What’s going on everyone. My name is Vik Patel on today’s episode of the ‘Entrepreneur within’ we talk about traffic versus product. Hey, are you an entrepreneur or maybe you already have your online business launched and ready to go either way. I invite you to join me on my journey as I learn, apply, and share Internet’s most effective marketing secrets in my business.

So I took a little bit of break for the last couple of days. I actually challenge myself that I would publish every day, but what I was doing was I was actually developing a website for my podcast which would be called entrepreneur within.com. I’m still building it. I was not going to record another episode of podcast up until I’ve made it, but what I think I should do is regardless of it’s ready or not, I should just keep publishing. And that’s why I am back so long time ago, I used to work at best buy in that little orange box people call ‘Geek Squad’. Now I worked there for a couple of years before I had to fly back home and quit that job. I used to work there as a side hustle while I was still working full time at Mcdonalds.

Anyways, I remember I worked weekends there when I would get some time off from McDonald’s and while I was working there at the geek squad, I noticed that there are three different kinds of customers who would come to best buy. The first kind is the people who would always buy any gadgets you name it; home theater system, a new computer, a new phone. Anything that you can think of, they will always buy it from best buy, no matter what. Now these are the people who actually constantly got emails from best buy about different products, services, or any different promotions that they were running. And because they had a good service in the past from them, that’s why they would always consider the BestBuy for any purchase that they want to add in their gadget accessories.

Now the second kind of customer that would come there would be the customer that saw an ad for best buy and now they want to buy a product from BestBuy as a result of that. The third kind of customer would be people who just look up on their phone on Google: where do I buy a GoPro near me or something like that, and BestBuy would pop up and then they would go there. The reason why I’m telling you about these three kinds of customers who used to come to BestBuy is that it relates exactly to three different kinds of traffic that exist on the internet. Number one is the traffic that you own. Number two is the traffic that you control and number three is traffic that you don’t control. Understanding these three types of traffic is key to make the most out of each kind of traffic. So let’s take a look at each kind of traffic in detail.

Number one is traffic that you own. This is your email list, your followers, your readers, customers, ext. This is a list that you can send a message or an email to, and without any additional cost of marketing, you will be able to sell your product or service. The second kind of traffic is the traffic that you control, this is a kind of traffic that you pay money for in the form of ad spend. So the more money you spend behind your ads, the more traffic you would get into your doorstep, whether it’s a funnel, a website, an online store, or a brick and mortar store? Now the third kind of traffic is the traffic that you do not control, this include the people who actually just look up something that they are buying online, and that relates to your product or service.

And you pop up on the Google search because of a good SEO that you have in place as a good marketer(Right!?) you or your company shows up higher in the list of Google and so they go ahead and buy your product or service. Now, this search is not just limited to Google. It can be anywhere, it can be on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn really depends upon how many platforms you’re active on which by the way increases the possibility of them finding you on those different platforms. Now, understanding traffic is very important, and in most cases, it’s even more important than understanding or the process of creating your product or service itself. A lot of time, people thinks that product creation or service creation is the biggest part of the business startup. However, you also need to understand where are you going to get your traffic from knowing that traffic is something that you will need to worry about later is not a good position to be in.

If you are constantly publishing and constantly providing content on these different social media platforms, way before your product or services even created, that is good because you will have an organic traffic, which you can promote your upcoming product or service to and also create a little bit of anticipation in the process. Hey, I have this product or service that I am working on. It’s not ready yet but it's coming! So you better watch out for that. I am working on a project myself, it is for helping chiropractors market their clinics in a much better way so they can widen the range of people they are reaching out and can offer their services at a reasonable price. So food service workers will be able to afford those services on a regular basis. That is what I’m working on. And there will be more updates that will be put on my Facebook group entrepreneur within I will leave the link in the description of this episode.
